I've had several interactions this week with small business owners and we've been discussing adding value to their bottom line. I've indicated to that that very easily a very close look and their expense line items on their P&Ls would be a great place to start and to review their contracts with vendors providing service to their companies. I assured them if we do this we will find a substantial amount of money that can be directly put back to their bottom lines.

It's a very common practice for many entrepreneurs to concentrate solely on generating top line results and very often ignoring their expense line costs. Certainly growing the top line is extremely important to the overall health of a business and is a priority, but controlling costs and expenses will keep your company healthy as well.
